Lumenis-One Machine

8.2.2 Error Message #0

Description: Communication problem between LightSheer module and computer.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective LightSheer Head
  1. Remove the LightSheer head.
  1. Check for corrosive and damaged connector pins on the LightSheer head connector and socket.
  1. Reconnect the head and restart the system. If problem persists, go to the next step.
  1. Check all connectors on the LightSheer backplane and properly connected; restart the system. If problem persists, go to the next step.
  1. Remove the module and check all pins and connections on the LighSheer module and backplane. Reconnect and restart the system. If problem persists, go to the next step.
  1. Replace the LightSheer head and restart the system.
Defective LightSheer Module
  1. Check that COM2 on the PC side is properly connected. And restart thesystem. If problem persists, go to the next step.
  1. Replace the LightSheer Module and restart the system.
Defective Backplane
  1. Replace the LightSheer backplane and restart the system.

8.2.3 Error Message #1-12: I²C Errors

Description: When an I²C error occurs, the I²C address of the device is displayed. The table below shows the physical locations of each of the I²C devices according to their addresses.

Error #1: I²C IO Port Error

Description: I²C protocol error occurred when interfacing the specific I/O port.

Parts Possibly Affected:

 

  • Controller 1 card
  • Interfsce 3 card
  • Power Supply I²C card
  • Left head card

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective Head
  1. Shut down the system, disconnect all heads.
  2.  Check connector pins, reconnect them, and restart the system. If the problem persists, go to the next step.
  3. Replace left/right heads with dummy heads and restart the system.
  4. If the problem is solved, replace the defective head.
Defective Device
  1. Locate the problematic device according to Table 8-3. Remove the device, check for damage in the in the backplane connection by reconnecting it.
  2. Restart the system; If the problem persists, replace the defective device.

Error #3: MAX127 A2D Error

Description: I²C protocol error occurred when interfacing the specific MAX127 A2D device.

  5. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace the interface 3 board.

Error #9: 12C FPGA Error (SWM-Switching Module)

Description: I²C protocol error occurred when interfacing the specific FPGA device.

  2. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace both heads with dummy heads.

8.2.4 Error #11: 12 RCT Error

Description: An I²C protocol error occurred when interfacing the RCT device.

8.2.5 Error #12: I²C Cooling Error

Description: An I²C protocol error occurred when interfacing the RCT device.

Probable Cause

  1. Disconnect and reconnect Controller 1.
  2. Disconnect and reconnect the cooling system.
  3. Check connection from P64 on the cooling backplane to P14 on the controller backplane.

8.2.6 Error #13: IPM Over Current

Description: The current through the IPM passed the allowed limit.

Probable Cause

  1. Check if all the heads are properly connected, and all pins in the handpiece and socket are OK.
  2. Check if the IPL lamp is not broken.
  3. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace both heads with dummy heads and restart the system.
Defective Switching module
  1. Remove the switching module and reconnect it.
  2. Restart the system.
  3. If the problem persists, replace the switching module and restart the system.

8.2.7 Error Message #14: Water Temperature Too High

Description: The water temperature exceeds the allowed limit (65 C).

Probable Cause

  1. Check the cooling status in the service screen (thermo switch, water temp, flow switch)
  2. Activate the fans manually; check that both fans are working properly. If not, go to next step.
Fans Not Working
  1. Check the fan use.
  2. If the problem is found, replace the fuse and restart the system. If not go to the next step.
Defective Cooling Module
  1. Remove the cooling module, check all connections to the backplane and reconnect them.
  2. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace the cooling module.
Defective Power Supply
  1. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace the power supply.

8.2.9 Error Message #16: Current Leakage Error

Description: Current leakage was detected (not during a pulse).

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective Head
  1. Check if all heads are properly connected.
  2. Check that the head pins are OK and restart the system.
  3. If the problem is solved, locate and replace the defective head. If not, go to the next step.
Defective Switching Module
  1. Remove the switching mode and reinstall it.
  2. Restart the system, if the problem persists, replace the switching module.
Defective HVPS
  1. Restart the system; if the problem persists, replace the HVPS and restart the system.

8.2.11 Error Message #18-24: Right/Left/Coil Error

Description: The error occurs when the relays do not get voltage. A possible problem is that there is no switching module 24V DC supply from the HVPS to the switching. This may be due to the following:

  • The switching module may have burned the F9 fuses on the power supply backplane.
  • Less likely, a power supply switching output malfunction.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective F9 Fuse on HVPS backplane
  1. Verify that F9 on the HVPS backplane is OK (LED 9 is lit). If not replace the fuse.
  2. If the fuse blow out again, go to the next Probable Cause.
LED D1 is OFF on the Switching Module Backplane
  1. Verify good connection between J48 on HVPS to Switching Module Backplane J74.
  2. Check the pin-to-pin connection and pin-to-GND connection.
  3. If the connection in Step 1 is on OK, go to the next Probable Cause.
No 24V output from the Power Supply J48and fuse F9 is OK
  1. Replace the power supply.
No Power to the HV Relay backplane
  1. Check the pin connection between the switching module backplane P75 to HVR backplane P85

8.2.12 Error Message #25: Charge Timeout Error

The requested voltage to be charged (≠5%) was not achieved in a period of 10 seconds for capacitor 1, or five seconds for the LightSheer capacitor.

  1. Check that all the connections on the dumb board are properly connected.
  2. If the problem is found, shutdown the system, fix the problem, and restart the system. If not, go to the next step.
  3. Replace the Dumb Board and restart the system.
Defective Power Supply
  1. Replace the power supply and restart the system.
Defective Capacitor
  1. Do one of the following:
    • If the error occurred while in IPL mode, replace the main capacitor bank.
    • If the error occurred while in LightSheer mode, replace the LightSheer backplane.

8.2.13 Error Message #26: Discharged Timeout Error

The requested voltage to be discharged (≠5%) was not achieved in a period of 10 seconds for capacitor 1, or five seconds for the LightSheer capacitor.

Probable Cause

Defective Dump Resistor
  1. Check the dumb resistor connection and resistance:
    • For Lumenis One: 2 resistors in parallel, 200 Ω each, total value 100 Ω
    • For LightSheer, 1 resistor 40 Ω
Defective Dumb Board
  1. Check 24V in the Dumb Board (P41 pins 1 and 9).
  2. Check that all the connections on the dumb board are properly connected.
  3. If the problem is found, shutdown the system, fix the problem, and restart the system. If not, go to the next step.
  4. Replace the Dumb Board and restart the system.
Defective Power Supply
  1. Replace the power supply and restart the system.

8.2.14 Error Message #38-39: No Left/Right Pump Flow

Description: No flow was detected in the left/right water pump.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective heads
  1. Simulate the error. If simulation succeeds, go to the next steps. Otherwise, go to Probable Cause-Defective Flow Switch.
  2. Replace the left and right heads with dummy head and restart the system.
  3. If the problem is solved, locate and replace the defective head. Otherwise, got to Probable Cause-Kinks in Tubing.
Defective flow switch
  1. Check the water level and fill if necessary.
  2. Restart 10 times; if problem persists, go to Probable Cause-Defective Heads.
Kinks in Tubing
  1. Inspect tubes for kinks, pinches, and disconnection.
  2. If kinks are found, fix the problem and restart the system. Otherwise, go to the next step.
  3. Check the left & right switches during self-test, for short circuit (each one separately) – J67/68. If the problem is found, go to Probable Cause-Cooling Fuses. Otherwise, go to Probable Cause-Cooling System.
Cooling System
  1. Replace the cooling system and restart the system.
  2. If the problem persists, contact TechSupport.
Cooling Fuses
  1. Check the cooling fuses F1/F2 and relevant LEDs; replace fuse if needed and restart the system.
  2. If problem persists, check if flow switch gets 5V (J67/68) and restart the system.
  1. If the problem is found, go to Probable Cause-Defective Controller 1 Board. Otherwise, go to Probable Cause-Cooling System.
Defective Controller 1 Board
  1. If the problem is found, replace Controller 1 Board and restart the system.
  2. If problem persists, replace the cooling system and restart the system.

8.2.15 Error Message #41: PC Micro-Protocol Error

Description: The PC lost RS232 connection with the micro-controller.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

  1. Replace dummy head with dummy heads.
  2. Restart the system.
  3. If the problem persists, locate the defective head and replace it.
Defective Controller 1 Board
  1. Check the connection from P15 on the controller backplane to PC COM1 RS232.
  2. Restart the system.
  3. If the problem persists, replace the controller board and restart the system.
Defective Controller Backplane
  1. Replace the controller backplane and restart the system.

8.2.16 Error Message #50: No Air Flow Pressure

Description: No airflow pressure. This error is checked only in the self test.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

Defective F4 fuse
  1. Check the F4 fuse on the HVPS backplane.
  2. If the problem is found, replace the fuse and restart the system.
Air Filter Connection
  1. Check that the valve in the air filter is firmly closed.
  2. If the problem is found, restart the system.
Air Pressure Switch
  1. Check that air pressure switch is shorted when pressure is on: Open the service screen and operate the air pump; verify that the air sensor light is lit (green). If not, replace the air pressure switch.
  2. If the problem is solved, perform calibration and restart the system. Otherwise, got to Probable Cause-Defective Air Pump.
Defective Air Pump
  1. Replace the air pump and restart the system.

8.2.17 Error Message #51: Not a Lumenis Accessory

Description: One of the attached accessories is not a Lumenis accessory. One of the wire devices is not identify as Lumenis.

Probable Cause

Corrective Action

  1. Disconnect all heads and turn on the system.
  2. If the error disappears, reconnect the heads one by one.
Defective Power Meter
  1. Disconnect all power meters and turn on the system.
  2. If the error disappears, reconnect the power meters one by one and restart the system.
Defective LightSheer Module
  1. Verify that the LightSheer head is not connected.
  2. Disconnect P33 from the controller backplane and restart the system.
  3. If the error disappears, replace the LightSheer Module. If the error appears, replace the LightSheer Head ID harness (connection between the controller backplane and the LS backplane – P/N HS6540330).
